How to better understand VLAN? You can think of VLAN as a "virtual room". Even if they are physically in the same building (switch), different functions and isolation can be achieved by dividing the room (VLAN). Ultimately, security and flexibility are improved. Example of VLAN configuration across switches:

The switch 1 on the left is interconnected with the switch 2 on the right, and the cascade ports are shown in the figure:

 

 

Switch 1 configuration:

 

 

Open Tree bar on the left, select Switching--VLAN--Static

T: Intermediate Trunk port in switch 1

Select T for Port 1.5 corresponding to VLAN2 and VLAN3, which means that VLAN2 and VLAN3 can flow out from Port 1.5, and click Set to save.

U: Access interface

Select T for Port 1.5 corresponding to VLAN2 and VLAN3, which means that VLAN2 and VLAN3 can flow out from Port 1.5, and click Set to save.

The interface performs actions on VLANTag in both the inbound and outbound directions of traffic.

Port 1.1 /1.4: Enter the value 2 to allow VLAN 2 to flow in

Port 1.2/1.3: Enter the value 3 to allow VLAN 3 to flow in

Port 1.5: The default value is 1

Click Set to save.

Open Tree bar on the left, select Basic Setting--Load/Save

Save: Select to Device, click the Save button to save to NV-RAM

Switch 2 configuration:

 

 

Open Tree bar on the left, select Switching--VLAN--Static

Trunk port of switch 2

VLAN2 and VLAN3 correspond to Port1.1 and select T, which means that VLAN2 and VLAN3 are allowed to flow out from Port1.1.

Click Set to save.

Open Tree bar on the left, select Switching--VLAN--Port

Port 1.1: The default value is 1

Port 1.2/1.4: Enter the value 2 to allow VLAN 2 to flow in

Port 1.3/1.5: Enter the value 3 to allow VLAN3 to flow in

Click Set to save.

Open Tree bar on the left, select Switching--VLAN--Static

Port 1.3/1.4/1.5: Access port

Port 1.2/1.3/1.4:

VLAN2 and VLAN3 correspond to Port1.1 and select T, which means that VLAN2 and VLAN3 are allowed to flow out from Port1.1.

Click Set to save.
