I. Cold Restart
A cold restart is a power-off restart, usually caused by a power outage on the device.
MOXA switches have redundant power supplies, and a cold restart is triggered only when both power supplies fail at the same time.
When the switch cold restarts, the Cold start will be recorded in the Log.

II. Hot Restart
Unlike a cold restart, a hot restart is usually a restart triggered by a manual restart or by a watchdog.
When the switch hot restarts, it will record the warm start in the log.

2.1 Manual restart
Usually there are several ways to manually restart:
Log in to the switch management address through the Web, and click the restart button in the UI interface.

The reload command is used in the CLI command line to trigger a manual restart. This behavior is recorded in the log as a hot restart.

All switches will perform a hot reboot after successfully upgrading the firmware.
III. Contrast
There is no difference in the startup time and post-startup process logic for MOXA switches during hot and cold restarts. It only depends on the startup reason.
In addition, when the switch log records a restart on site, but the cause is unclear, you can observe and analyze the log. If the switch log records a hot restart, it may be due to software reasons such as switch function check, abnormal packet filtering in the network, and human operation. If the switch log records a cold restart, it may be caused by hardware reasons such as the switch hardware function (especially the power module) and the power supply line.
