The second-layer redundancy technologies solved in the network include MRP ring and STP including Coupling technology, as well as the third-layer redundancy technologies such as active-standby routing and load sharing.

In industrial automation systems, redundant design is often used to improve system reliability and availability. The configuration shown in the figure is a typical redundant configuration, in which:
• The main module is responsible for normal operation and data processing.
• The backup module synchronizes data with the primary module through the Partner Coupling port and is in standby status.
• When the main module fails, the backup module will take over the work through a fast switching mechanism to ensure the continuous operation of the system. This design can reduce the downtime caused by equipment failure and improve the stability and reliability of the entire system.
!!!Notice!!!
The Hirschmann Layer 2 redundancy mechanism requires confirmation that the redundant configuration has been completed before the redundant line is connected.
Before configuring Coupling, disable the RSTP protocol of the ring network switch.
The port auto-adaptation state of the coupling should be turned on
If VLAN is divided, ensure that the coupling port is VLAN Cascade port with ID 1
RM functions should not be used on the same machine as Coupling functions
Hirschmann switches have three Coupling connection modes, and this article mainly discusses ABC.
1 Single Machine Coupling--A
2. Dual-machine Coupling--BC
3 Double-click Coupling with control line--DE

Standby function: Indicates that the module is in standby state. It synchronizes data with the main module, but does not participate in operation under normal circumstances. When the main module fails, the standby module will switch to the working state and take over the functions of the main module.

1. Select Configuration: Select the dual-machine coupling mode with Stand By set to 1
Select Port
Coupling port is Port 5.
IP Address: This is the IP address of the switch connected to the main link
Information
Redundancy guaranteed: When one of the coupling links to the switch fails, the redundant link will take over its role and function.
Configuration failure: whether the configuration is complete
Redundancy Mode
Redundant RingNetwork Coupling: Only one of the primary and backup links is in Active state, and both are not Active at the same time.
Extended Redundancy: When there is a problem with the connection between switches, the primary and backup links will be Active at the same time.

2. Select configuration: Select the dual-machine coupling mode with Stand By set to 0
Select port:
Coupling port is Port 6.
IP Address: This is the IP address of the switch connected to the main link
